The Foxcroft.com blog: Company history and going green

Foxcroft Equipment & Service Co. is almost 50 years old. When a company's been in business as long as we have, you can be certain that a great deal of paper was used, saved and then filed. Inside each of our 50 four drawer filing cabinets is paper that was even
handwritten or typed
!
In 2011 can you imagine any company taking a Sales Order or sending out an invoice that hasn't been computer generated? Then think back to 1963, no main frame computers in use in Glenmoore, PA, certainly no desk top PC's, probably just good old #2 lead pencils!
Thanks to new technology that Foxcroft Equipment & Service Co. purchased last year and thanks to our scanning guru Pamela Brooks, We have now digitally scanned all of the paper in all but four of our old metal filing cabinets. Thankfully, the other 46 have made the trip to our local recycling center.
There are many benefits to the file conversion project at Foxcroft Equipment & Service Co. First and foremost is that the company has decided that we must become more "green". All of the paper we don't use saves more trees, which are vital to the health of our planet.
Foxcroft Equipment & Service's business information is now available at our finger tips. No more trips to the filing cabinets to search through drawers so tightly packed with files that we were lucky to get our fingers in them to separate one file from another. Now its one click on the computer and up comes the customer's file complete with all their history.
Another important benefit to Foxcroft Equipment & Service Co. is that now all of our business information can also be stored off site in a secure location. In the event of a natural disaster, Foxcroft Equipment & Service Co. would be able to open for business again as soon as we secured a telephone line and a couple of new computers.
In light of the natural disaster in Japan last month, we feel confident that we made the right decision to protect the company's 50 year history.
Be sure to read our blog next week to see how Foxcroft Equipment & Service Co. changed one procedure that's going to result in even less paper being used.
We're proud of
all
the changes we've made in the last year and even more proud that we are going "green".
