System Installation Requirements

Selecting the appropriate injection and sample point locations for the equipment is as important as picking the right hardware for the job.  Usually, the chlorine injection point has already been optimally placed for the process.  Using this as a starting point, place the sample point downstream from the injection point.  If the sample point were placed upstream, the controller would have to work in a "open-loop" control mode, where it should blindly change chlorine dosage based on the set-point, but would never actually "see" the results.  This would cause the controller to continuously increase the amount of chlorine.  A downstream sample point assures the controller "sees" the results of its chlorine control as it maintains the desired set point.
