The FX-1000p Amperometric Chlorine Analyzer is designed to operate continuously, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For best measurement accuracy, the system requires some routine maintenance:
The preventive maintenance kit includes:
PM Kit Installation
Turn off the line power and stop the sample flow to the system.
Disconnect the wires from the copper electrode ring (black wire) and the gold electrode (white wire).
While holding the bottom block of the flow cell, unfasten and remove the four bottom screws of the assembly.
Do not loosen or remove the fastener centered between the four bottom screws. This could damage the gold electrode that is press fit, and specially sealed onto the lower block.
Carefully full the bottom block, together with the copper electrode ring, down from the top block. This should help prevent losing any of the 150 small PVC mixing balls contained within the copper ring electrode. Pour the PVC balls into a container.
Remove all O-ring seals, copper electrode ring as shown above and replace with new seals, balls and electrode.
Check the positive probe (gold). the probe is pure gold, and as such, it is inert. So normally, it will not require any cleaning, other than wiping it off with a cloth. Be very careful as the probe is easily damaged.
Re-assemble parts as shown below. A small amount of silicon grease my be applied to the O-rings.
When re-assembling bottom block, rotate mixer while inserting bottom block into top block. This ensures that no mixing balls get jammed under the mixer arms. Continue to rotate mixer by hand until mixer if free. Insert the four mounting screws and tighten. Rotate the mixer to be sure it is rotating freely.
Re-connect signal wire to the cell unit, black wire to the copper electrode and white wire to the gold electrode.
Remove and install new buffer tubing. Be sure to choose the proper size tubing for your applications. Refer to page 28 of FX-1000p instruction manual.
The tubing must be routed and secured around the peristaltic mechanism of the buffer feed pump. Refer to page 28 of FX-1000p instruction manual.
Unfasten the knurled head screw and swing open the curved occlusion ring, exposing the three pump rollers.
Unfasten and remove the front half of the clear Lexan retainer block that holds the feed tubing.
Route the 5 foot buffer feed tubing around the three rollers and centrally position it (front to rear) on the rollers.
Close the curved occlusion ring over the tubing, slightly compressing the tubing onto the pump rollers. Secure the ring by finger tightening the knurled-head screw.
Position the feed tubing within the clear Lexan retainer block, and loosely secure the front half of the block by replacing the retainer knob.
Gently pull both sides of the tubing until all tube slack is removed from between the peristaltic pump mechanism and the retainer block, and finger-tighten the retainer knob to securely grip the tubing. Do not over tighten the retainer knob which could pinch the tubing and decrease buffer flow rate.
Refer to the calibration section of the instruction book, for instructions on how to calibrate the FX-1000p see page 35 of instruction manual. |
